Taiwan Dropping Covid-Related Visa Requirements
and Quarantines

The government of Taiwan announced they are dropping their remaining COVID entry requirements. During September Taiwan has been reintroducing its visa waiver program, which allows visa-free entry for citizens of more than 60 countries, including the United States, United Kingdom, and Australia. As of September 29, citizens of the remaining countries which were part of the pre-COVID visa waiver program, including Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, will no longer need to apply for visas before traveling to Taiwan.

Taiwan is dropping its COVID precautions both because the COVID pandemic is well-controlled among its population, and as a bid to rebuild its tourism sector, which suffered badly during the pandemic. Taiwan was one of the last locations in Asia to maintain a strict COVID entry limitations.

In addition to ending visa requirements, travelers to Taiwan will no longer need to provide PCR tests taken before arrival. And, starting on October 13, travelers arriving in Taiwan will no longer be subject to a mandatory quarantine period. After the 13th, travelers will only be asked to self-monitor and self-test for COVID for a period of seven days after arrival.
